OnSong is an iOS app designed for the individual musician: manage your own sheet music library, display chord charts, move through your setlists on stage. On your own, it is a solid tool. But with a band — even three people — you quickly end up emailing files around, wondering who has the right version of a chart, and explaining where the chorus starts all over again at every rehearsal. Music Drive solves exactly those problems.

OnSong is your personal library. Music Drive is your whole band's living repertoire.

What Music Drive actually changes

One single source of truth for the whole band

With OnSong, every musician maintains their own library. The result: your bass player has December's version, your guitarist has March's, and nobody has the leader's corrections. In Music Drive there is only one version of each chart — the band's. When the leader updates a file, everyone sees the new version immediately. No duplicates, no confusion, no email thread asking which version we are using.

Annotations: paid on OnSong, included everywhere on Music Drive

On OnSong, sheet music annotations are reserved for the Premium plan ($47.99/year). On Music Drive they are included in every plan — and, more importantly, they are shared with the whole band. The leader highlights a passage, marks a dynamic, fixes an entry: everyone sees it immediately on their phone or computer. These are not private annotations stuck on your own device — they are a shared resource, visible to all, updated in real time.

Android and web, not just iPad

OnSong is iOS only. If your drummer is on Android, your pianist prefers a laptop and your choir director has no iPad, they are simply shut out. Music Drive runs on iOS, Android and directly in the browser. No install at all for members who just want to reach the files from their computer. The PWA sits on a phone's home screen like a native app.

Work on a passage without leaving the app

OnSong has no audio practice tools. Music Drive includes SpeedShift to slow any recording down without changing the pitch, and VloopPro to loop a passage A/B with named structure markers visible to the whole band. No more shouting "from the intro" across the room — the marker is there, clickable and shared.

A dep ready in 30 seconds

One of your players drops out. You have found someone, but now they need the whole repertoire. With OnSong that is not possible — everyone keeps their own library. With Music Drive you generate an invitation link: within 30 seconds your dep has every chart, recording, setlist and rehearsal note. SpeedShift and VloopPro are there so they can prepare on their own before the rehearsal. After the gig, access is removed in one click.

Autoscroll on stage: paid on OnSong, included on Music Drive

On OnSong, autoscroll — the chart scrolling by itself during the performance — is a Premium feature, available only with the $47.99/year subscription. On Music Drive, SmartLive (charts scrolling in tempo on stage) is included in every plan at no extra cost. And it all stays in the same tool, from the first rehearsal to the night of the gig.

Everything included, no hidden paid add-ons

This is a fundamental difference of philosophy. On OnSong the essentials — annotations, autoscroll, backing tracks, MIDI — are reserved for the Premium plan ($47.99/year). On Music Drive every feature is available on every plan, with no add-on and no module to unlock. VloopPro, SpeedShift, ChordsNinja, SmartLive, the advanced metronome, the tuner, the virtual piano: all included. The only difference between Music Drive plans is the number of members, workshops and storage. Not the features.
